ONLINE TV NETWORK KONTRABAND SET TO BECOME GLOBAL NUMBER 1 WITH ARRIVAL OF FORMER MTV AND EXTREME EXECS

Kontraband, one of the worlds leading online TV networks has just appointed Simon Guild, former CEO of MTV Networks Europe, as Non Executive Chairman and Al Gosling, CEO of The Extreme Group and founder of the Extreme Sports Channel, as Non Executive Director to build on Kontraband’s already rapid expansion to make it the global leader in online TV entertainment.

The Kontraband Group, the team behind one of the worlds leading male focused entertainment video web sites, www.kontraband.com, and the cutting edge viral marketing agency, The 7th Chamber (www.the7thchamber.com), are delighted to announce the appointment of these two leading media entrepreneurs to its board.

Simon Guild, former President and CEO of MTV Networks Europe will join the board as Non Executive Chairman. “With over 14 years experience at MTV launching TV channels, online businesses and mobile offerings and a broad exposure to the entire media sector Simon will bring a vast amount of experience and insight to the Board” said CEO Richard Spalding. “I am very excited by the opportunity to build on Kontraband’s market-leading positions in entertainment and viral marketing to help create a hugely successful business in the next 12 months” said Guild.

Al Gosling founded the Extreme Group in 1995 and went on to launch the Extreme Sports Channel in 1999. Following on from this success Al has developed the Extreme brand into a number of areas including Extreme Hotels, drinks, shops, mobile, travel, theme parks and clothing. “Al’s experience of building a global TV network and the extreme brand, combined with his energy and enthusiasm for Kontraband will be invaluable” said Spalding. Al Gosling commented, “Kontraband is where TV is now and where it will continue to develop. I am blown away by the eyeballs and reach Kontraband and the great team within the business are able to deliver month on month. Advertisers are just beginning to wake up to the idea of guaranteed delivered impacts against TV ratings, which deliver very little definitive accountability. Alongside Kontrabands excellent team, Simon and I hope to continue their great work and push the business to being the global number 1 entertainment content provider.”

“Kontraband now delivers killer video and gaming content to over 10m global users every month and The 7th Chamber is the leader in Viral marketing working with numerous blue chip clients on a monthly basis. Revenue has so far this year doubled in comparison to 2007. Both Simon and Al will provide the board with a breadth of valuable experience as we continue to execute our aggressive growth strategy, it is set to be one exciting year” said Spalding.
